Editorial Policy
Last updated: June 1, 2026
InsureWise exists to provide clear, honest, and genuinely useful information about insurance and personal finance. This editorial policy explains how we produce content, what standards we hold ourselves to, and how we maintain independence from advertisers.
1. Editorial Mission
Our mission is to demystify insurance and personal finance for everyday people. We believe readers deserve content that respects their intelligence, provides actionable advice, and doesn't hedge every statement into meaninglessness. If a product is a bad deal, we'll say so. If a strategy works but has real risks, we'll explain both.
We aim to be the resource we wish existed when we were trying to compare life insurance policies, understand health plan deductibles, or figure out whether to lock in a mortgage rate. Practical, specific, and honest.
2. Content Creation Process
Every article published on InsureWise goes through a structured multi-step editorial process:
- Research & Planning: We identify the topic, gather primary, official source material, and outline the article's structure around the questions a real reader actually has.
- AI-Assisted Drafting: We use AI language tools to help compile research and produce an initial draft from that source material. We are open about this — see the AI-Assisted Content Disclosure below.
- Human Review & Editing: A member of our editorial team reviews and edits every draft for accuracy, clarity, and reader value before it is published. We do not publish unreviewed, automatically generated text.
- Fact-Checking: Factual claims, figures, and regulatory references are checked against primary sources — government databases, regulatory filings, and official insurer documentation.
- Final Approval: An editor gives final approval before publication, checking for clarity, accuracy, reader value, and adherence to these standards.
3. Sources & Citations
We prioritize primary sources in our reporting. These include:
- Government agencies: NAIC, state insurance departments, IRS, CFPB, SEC, Federal Reserve, and HUD
- Industry data: AM Best, J.D. Power, LIMRA, Insurance Information Institute, and Freddie Mac/Fannie Mae
- Academic research: Peer-reviewed studies from economics, finance, and actuarial science journals
- Official company documentation: Policy specimens, SEC filings, rate filings, and press releases
We do not invent sources or quotes. When we describe what professionals generally recommend, we say so in general terms rather than attributing statements to named individuals we have not actually interviewed.
4. AI-Assisted Content Disclosure
We want to be straightforward: InsureWise uses AI language tools to help research topics and produce initial drafts. We believe readers deserve to know how content is produced, so we say so plainly rather than hiding it.
What AI tools do: Help us compile and synthesize source material and produce a first draft of an article's structure and text.
What humans do: A person reviews and edits every article before it is published — checking facts and figures against primary sources, removing anything that can't be verified, fixing errors, and making the final decision on what gets published.
Our content is general educational information, not personalized financial, insurance, legal, or tax advice. For decisions specific to your situation, consult a licensed professional.
5. Editorial Independence
InsureWise earns revenue through display advertising (Google AdSense). Our editorial content is produced entirely independently of our advertising relationships. Specifically:
- Advertisers have no input into editorial content, article selection, product rankings, or coverage decisions
- Our editorial team does not know which companies are currently advertising on our site (Google serves ads programmatically)
- We do not accept paid placements within editorial articles or disguise advertising as editorial content
- If we reference a product from a company that advertises on our network, we disclose the potential relationship
6. Corrections Policy
We take accuracy seriously and correct errors promptly and transparently.
- Minor corrections (typos, formatting, grammar) are made without notation
- Substantive corrections — those that change the meaning, factual basis, or practical takeaway of an article — are noted at the top of the article with a description of what was changed and when
- Retractions are published prominently if an article contains a fundamental error that cannot be corrected
If you spot an error in any of our content, please email contact@fininsureblog.com. We investigate all correction requests within 48 hours.
7. Content Updates
Insurance regulations, financial markets, and product offerings change frequently. We regularly review and update published articles to reflect:
- Changes in federal or state insurance regulations
- Updates to interest rates, premium ranges, or coverage terms
- New product launches or discontinuations from major carriers
- Revisions to tax rules affecting insurance or personal finance
Updated articles are marked with the date of the most recent revision.
8. Conflict of Interest
InsureWise editors are required to disclose any personal or financial interests that could create a conflict of interest with their editorial responsibilities. This policy is reviewed by our editorial team at least annually.
9. Reader Trust
Reader trust is our most important asset. If we ever fail to meet the standards outlined in this policy, we want to hear about it. Contact our editorial team at contact@fininsureblog.com or visit our Contact page.
